The Colour Mustard
Any of you who grew up in the 90’s know just what I’m taking about.
I quickly decided it was an awful colour and simply could not understand why anyone could like it, let alone choose to wear it.
Later as a new parent, I decided I may not like it because it resembles too much of what happened in bubs nappy!
Fast forward to the year 2018 and bamb, Iv had a brain change. Must be a photography thing. I saw the colour and fell in love! Yes I said it! I love the colour MUSTARD.
Did you know it’s actually called Ochre, which is a natural earth clay pigment. So much prettier than mustard. I had an idea of what I wanted to achieve with the colour and sought out to find the perfect outfit for a photo session.
Every time I pointed it out to my kids, I got the crinkled, turned up nose. Mum, it belongs on food!!
Well I found the Ochre dress I dreamed of and created a few images mixing it with white and denim blue… I can officially say, it’s possible for your brain to deceive you. I now love Ochre!
What are your thoughts on the colour mustard? are you an 80’s fan?
aw that is funny; i used to love all things pastel! And then moved away and now back to it.
I absolutely love all things pastel 🙂 🙂

Thanks Kelly 🙂

Thank you Michaila

Thanks Kristin 🙂
I love mustard yellow! It’s my all-time favorite color, and until a few months ago, was my branding color, too. The rebrand was good for my business, but I miss my mustard yellow desperately hahaha. It’s such a bright and happy color! These are such sweet pictures of your kids! Great job!
Hey Erin, such a great color – Go check out Tori Watson Photography, she has Mustard yellow in her branding, it looks great!
I love mustard yellow. I just did a senior session tonight and that was her color scheme- it was perfect! You nailed this session, they are so cute!
Thanks Jordyn, can’t wait to see your senior session in mustard yellow ?
What fun pics of your kids tania and I LOVE that mustard dress. It really works SO well in pictures. I had a family who used it as their accent colour for their shoot and they’re some of my most favourite pictures!! Mustard for the win. 🙂
Thanks Mandy! Ooh I would love to see your session with this color!
These photos are so beautiful! I have to agree that our brains change when we become photographers, I always couldn’t stand flowers. I just didn’t understand what the hype was, and 2 years later that’s my favorite thing to photograph!
Hey Ashley, I agree 🙂
