Pottery Barn Bedroom Reveal
The year that was 2020.
With 2020 being the year that it’s been, we can all agree we have spent more time in our bedrooms over the past few months than ever! To be honest with you, I did not mind one bit. You see I’m an introvert and my home is my safe haven and my bedroom my sanctuary. It is the place I find calm and rest from the crazy world out there.
Solid Wood Furniture
I have been on a mission all year to update our furniture in our bedroom. I wanted solid wood which was increasingly hard to find. Any “solid wood” furniture that I did find still had parts veneer, melamine or particleboard. I was set on solid so I opted to just wait.
I am SO glad I did wait… as I stumbled upon Pottery Barn Australia a few months ago. You see, I knew too well about Pottery Barn USA but had no idea it was in fact in Australia. I was quite embarrassed when I found out the Brisbane store has been around for almost 6 years. How did I miss this!!
My first impression upon walking into the Brisbane store was truly wow! I found my decor style and colour palette under one roof. And just when I thought it could not get any better I wandered into West Elm their sister store and continued drooling over all their decor. Pottery Barn Australia is part of the Williams Sonoma Family along with Pottery Barn Kids and West Elm.
Menlo Teak Wood
Imagine my excitement as I came across the Menlo Bedroom Range at Pottery Barn. It is a true solid wood. Yep, that’s right no veneer or particle board at the back or in the drawers. The Extra Wide Dresser is a sturdy 97kg of solid reclaimed Teak Wood. It has the most gorgeous grain and each piece is unique. The Bedside Tables are extra wide and solid too with antique brass finish drawer handles. I absolutely love the detail in the exposed joinery.
Pottery Barn Design Crew
Did you know that Pottery Barn has a Complementary Design Crew? Awesome right! Designer Rene, from the Brisbane store, was incredibly helpful and friendly. My first question was, how long am I going to have to wait for delivery? Now if you have ever ordered furniture you just know it’s usually around the 8-12 week wait time. My squeal could not be contained when Rene confirmed I could have my delivery in less than 2 weeks.
She helped me choose a basket to fit into the open shelf on the bedside table. Pottery Barn has a few basket variations and Rene helped me choose the perfect colour by asking me what the colour of my flooring was and any other furniture or elements in my bedroom. I chose the Havana Lidded Basket in large, which sits perfectly on the bedside table shelf.
Pottery Barn Luxe Bedding
Now onto the actual bedding. I am a texture person and I love my linen to be soft and light. I knew I wanted a neutral warm palette so I could showcase my artwork above the bed without any colours clashing. As soon as I felt the texture of the Hudson Heathered Velvet Quilt Cover I was sold. It is 100% luxe cotton with a soft velvet texture that is smooth and light. Even though it’s a neutral colour, the oatmeal has a gorgeous rich warmth to it. Rene helped me choose pillowcases and sheets that complimented the warm tones of the Hudson Quilt. This clever quilt cover comes with inner ties that keep the insert in place. For the fitted and top sheets and the pillowcases, I chose the Tencel Sheet Set in white, which has a luxuriously soft satin feel. I simply could not wait to make my bed.
Hamilton Print Collection
I have chosen 2 of my prints above the bed to really make a statement. Featuring my soon to be released Hamilton Collection. These frames are custom made in Australia.
Pottery Barn Extra Wide Dresser
For the Extra Wide Dresser, I chose an oversized Ceramist vase from West Elm. The height takes your eyes up to the custom made wall gallery frames which tell a story. Back down to the dresser, I have a few personal items, a couple of my favourite Interior books from Natalie Walton and then lastly the Joshua Ceramic vase with my absolute favourite Indian Hawthorne bush.
Polished Brass Frames
I have chosen a gorgeous Polished Brass frame from Westelm to lean on one of the bedside tables. They are solid, high-end quality if you are looking for ready-made frames. They come in a variety of finishes too.
Here I have chosen this gorgeous little white Egg Ceramic Vase from West Elm. It reminds me of an ostrich egg. I absolutely love its shape and the texture is flawlessly smooth.
Cushions for life
Oh, and did I mention I have an obsession with cushions!!! The high end, luxury quality of the Pottery Barn cushions have me hooked. Their inserts are made with 100% down feather. They have an incredible range of covers. Again I chose to stick with neutral tones. There is no better feeling than fluffing a cushion and finishing it off with a good hand chop! They were the perfect finishing touch for this Pottery Barn Bedroom Reveal. These cushions are perfect for leather lounges too as they stay put and don’t slide off at all.
I can’t wait to update other rooms in our home with Pottery Barn and West Elm.
I think Snoopy and Dash approve of the makeover and have made themselves very comfortable on a Dayton Linen Fringe Throw
