Cake Smash Photography
I can’t think of a better what to celebrate your baby’s first birthday than with a Cake Smash Photography session.
I wish I knew about this when my children were babies.
Anyone who knows me will agree that I value birthdays and love to celebrate them.
I think they are a big deal and worthy of documenting. No one needs a better excuse to eat cake right?!
What to Expect?
Think of it as an extra special play date, where your baby gets to explore sensory play.
Some Mamas like to get a small, simple white cake especially made. I have also had Mamas prefer to make their own.
Just keep it small, simple and white. I usually add a special Happy Birthday sign to the cake.
You don’t want it to be too busy and detract from your baby’s cake smash experience.
There is no wastage and whatever is left over is taken home to enjoy.
Studio Clothing for Baby
I have a gorgeous selection of outfits for you to choose for your baby.
We have a wonderful time playing with my exclusive range of Sarah and Bendrix wooden toys.
Your baby will love these and I capture all the laughter and smiles.
What should we bring?
A simple white cake, keep it small.
A spare top for Mum or Dad, as sometimes things get a little sticky.
A drink bottle for bub, smashing is thirsty work!
What should we wear?
I suggest parents choose colours that match their child’s clothes for the session, so wear simple neutral, white or cream. This ensures you will have images that are timeless.
The Family Portraits
Each cake smash session begins with an updated family portrait, and a photo of bub with each parent if you’d like one. If not, we spend this time getting a few portraits of the birthday child alone, before they begin their smash.
The Cake Smash
The cake smash usually takes around 15-20 minutes where bub explores the cake, the textures, the taste,
and has fun making a big mess.
It’s recommended that baby has tasted, played with and smashed a cake before coming to the studio
so that it’s not an overwhelming process for them.
I recommend a cupcake in their high chair a few days before the shoot.
The grand finale is a soak and splash in a special bathtub. All babies love this part of the session
and have fun with, rubber duckies, bubbles, and splashing. Here we get big grins and lots of personality.
I use a special little bathtub designed specifically for photography sessions.
When is the Best time to book a session?
The best time to book is a month before your baby’s actual first birthday,
so you can use the photos as an invite if you are having a birthday party with friends and family.
How Does the booking process work?
The booking process is simple. After you decide to go ahead and book your session, I will send you a contract.
After the contract is signed, you will be invoiced for the deposit. I require a deposit to book your session.
The remainder of the session fee is due 7 days before your session.

I use an online gallery to deliver your photos. The images are high resolution.
You will receive an invitation to the gallery and will be prompted to download the images to your computer.
Once on your computer, you can print as you wish.
How long does it take to get the images?
